Before you start building your OWN database you should define your business objectives. Data should be analyzed in order to solve a specific problem:

  • analyze the needs of your potential Clients
  • analyze which clients’ data will help you in the future to differentiate your offer, for example: age, sex, interests, income (for sure in case of a database of soda drinks consumers, if you have data about their income, it does not make sense to enter information about their car model because possibly such information could never be used)
  • the basis of building an interaction with the Client is to allow him making the decision about: what information he wants to get from you, when and how- ask him about this!
  • respect Client’s will- register only customers who positively respond to a marketing campaign
  • observe the regulations of the Act on Personal Data Protection (remember that data is a personal right of its owner and should be treated with special precaution)

The proper process of data entry is a basis for success in the future. Only the data of highest quality will be your ally. Database with errors “can do more harm than good”.

Can you imagine that one day you see on your desk correspondence addressed to you with misspelled name and surname? You are not any longer Marian Kowalski but Maria Nowalski... Unpleasant feeling, isn’t it? You would like to say “what an unsuitability”.

And you can find mistakes not only in address data but they can also refer to sensible data as sex preferences, religious convictions, additions etc. Using such data may have disastrous consequences...
